Examiner Hill wrote the primary course text in an accumulated knowledge format. Written in plain easy to understand everyday terms, the text begins with the basic principles of physics & the psycho/physiological dynamics involved in all violent interactions between humans

From this base the student is taken through the realities of firearms, bludgeoning and edged weapons use. The student is taught the types and mechanical features of various types of weapons and the processes by which these weapons are applied in offensive and defensive actions.

The student is then taught all the important principles in the investigation of a violent crime scene. Additionally the student is familiarized with basic 35mm camera operations, film speeds and grains. The process for photographing various types of evidence and crime scenes, including night time photography of large scene areas is included in the course text.

The student is then finally taken through real life crime scenes to see how the evidence was documented and whether it supported or refuted the participant's stated version of what had occurred. The student is shown how in real-life situations, how it's frequently the seemingly small items of evidence that tells or confirms "the real story" of what occurred. The student learns how to "question" a crime scene and how to "listen" to the evidence as it speaks to him.
